31st AIDA Freediving World Championship

Day 8 - Constant Weight (CWT) - Men

The eighth and final day of the 31st AIDA Freediving World Championships concluded in Limassol, Cyprus today - 29 September 2023.  

Early in the morning, Alexey Molchanov (INT) completed his 136m AIDA World Record attempt successfully to secure yet another world record in CWT.    

Highlights from the day included four new AIDA National Records:   

The rankings for the day: 

  1. Alexey Molchanov (INT) – 136m – AIDA World Record (pending doping result) 
  2. Abdelatif Alouach (FRA) – 116m  
  3. Fabio Tunno (GER) – 109m  

At the conclusion of the 31st AIDA Freediving World Championship, we also finalized the overall rankings for the competition.  

Women’s Overall Rankings: 

  1. Jung A Kim (KOR)  
  2. Sanda Delija (CRO)  
  3. Irena Vanova (CZE) 

Men's Overall Rankings: 

  1. Vitomir Maričić (CRO)  
  2. Petar Klovar (CRO)

The seventh day of the 31st AIDA Freediving World Championship took place in Limassol, Cyprus on 27 September 2023.

Today was women’s constant weight (CWT). In this discipline, the divers use either a monofin or bifins to descend and ascend. The conditions were not perfect, leaving athletes to compete against a strong current.

Day 6 - Free Immersion (FIM) - Men

The sixth day of the 31st AIDA Freediving World Championship finished in Limassol on 26 September 2023.

Day 5 - Free Immersion (FIM) - Women

The fifth day of the 31st AIDA Freediving World Championship took place in Limassol, Cyprus on 26 September 2023.

Highlights of the day included five successful AIDA National Records:

The rankings for the day:

  1. Fatima Korok (HUN) – 96m
  2. Jung A Kim (KOR) – 86m
  3. Sanda Delija (CRO) – 94m

The fourth day of the 31st AIDA Freediving World Championships finished today, 24 September 2023, in Limassol, Cyprus.  

Today was the men’s constant weight bifins (CWTB). In total, 41 men competed in the event. Again, we had near-perfect conditions with a flat sea and only a little bit of current at the end of the situation.  

Since CWTB became an official AIDA discipline in 2019, the world record has been a back-and-forth battle between Alexey Molchanov and Jerald Arnaud. However, today, Molchanov dove uncontested and successfully reached 123m, setting a new AIDA World Record in CWTB, pending doping test.

The third day of the 31st AIDA Freediving World Championships has just finished in Limassol on 23 September 2023.  

Today was the women’s constant weight bifins (CWTB). This is the newest discipline for AIDA, debuting in 2019. In total, 37 women competed in the event.

Two AIDA Continental Records 

The rankings for the day: 

  1. Marianna Gillespie (FRA) - 95m   
  2. Jung A Kim (KOR) - 94 meters  
  3. Enchante Gallardo (USA) - 90 meters 

Looking forward to the men’s CWTB competition tomorrow!  

In total, 31 women competed in the event. The conditions were excellent, with a flat sea and no current.
