Day 6 - Free Immersion (FIM) - Men
The sixth day of the 31st AIDA Freediving World Championship finished in Limassol on 26 September 2023.
Today was the men’s Free Immersion (FIM) competition. Unfortunately for the men, we didn’t have perfect conditions today, and they had to compete against a strong current.
In total, we had 47 divers participating with several AIDA National Records announced, in addition to an AIDA Continental Record and an AIDA World Record.
Petar Klovar (CRO) announced his AIDA World Record attempt as a 135m dive in four minutes and five seconds. The previous record was set with a 133m dive by Alexey Molchanov two months ago. Despite the current, Klovar’s dive was successful, securing his AIDA World Record in FIM.
A new AIDA Continental Record was announced by Jay Ku (TPE), however, he, unfortunately, turned early and did not complete the correct surface protocol.
Highlights for today include:
Nine new AIDA National Records:
- Anas Chair (MAR) - 61 meters
- Omar Al Ghailani (OMA) – 106m
- Gary Mcgrath (GBR) – 103m
