Day 5 - Free Immersion (FIM) - Women
The fifth day of the 31st AIDA Freediving World Championship took place in Limassol, Cyprus on 26 September 2023.
Today was the women’s free immersion (FIM) competition. In this discipline, the athlete pulls on a rope to ascend and descend, and the use of fins is prohibited. Unlike the first half of the competition, the athletes faced a strong current that was most noticeable in the morning.
In total, we had 37 divers participate with six AIDA National Record (NR) attempts, one AIDA Continental Record (CR) attempt and one AIDA World Record (WR) attempt.
Unfortunately, Sanda Delija (CRO) and Enchante Gallardo (USA), who announced the WR and CR respectively, both turned early, unable to complete their dives.
Highlights of the day included five successful AIDA National Records:
- Jung A Kim (KOR) – 86m
- Fatima Korok (HUN) – 96m
- Shlomit Wallerstein (ISR) – 71m
- Nikita Fima Atriyu (INA) – 63m
- Jiaoyi Li (HKG) – 58m
The rankings for the day:
- Fatima Korok (HUN) – 96m
- Jung A Kim (KOR) – 86m
- Sanda Delija (CRO) – 94m
Looking forward to the men’s Free Immersion event tomorrow!
