The International Association for the Development of Apnea (AIDA) is heading back to Corsica in France for the 33rd  AIDA Freediving World Championship. The competition will welcome nearly 200 participants from around the world to the famous seaside city of Ajaccio from 3-15 September 2024 and feature friendly competition, live training sessions and more.

The competition will take place approximately one mile offshore from the coast of Ajaccio, where the water is expected to be 22-25°C with a depth of 160 meters. Ideal conditions for the athletes to test their limits and succeed in their diving attempts.

During the world championship, athletes will compete in one or more of the four freediving depth disciplines:

  • Constant Weight (CWT): The freediver descends and ascends, attempting to reach a targeted depth by swimming with fins/monofin and/or their arms. Pulling on the rope and/or propulsion aids other than fins/monofin are prohibited.
  • Constant Weight No Fins (CNF): The freediver descends and ascends, attempting to reach a targeted depth using only their arms and legs. Pulling on the rope and/or propulsion aids are prohibited.
  • Constant Weight Bifins (CWTB): The freediver descends and ascends, attempting to reach a targeted depth by swimming with bifins and/or their arms. Pulling on the rope and/or propulsion aids other than bifins are prohibited.
  • Free Immersion (FIM): The freediver descends and ascends, attempting to reach a targeted depth by pulling on the rope. Propulsion aids are prohibited.

AIDA has worked with local partners to ensure the best possible welcome for athletes, staff, journalists, and teams. Enjoy the best flight ticket rates thanks to our partnership with Air Corsica. Additionally, the Ibis Styles Ajaccio Napoléon is offering a special discount, allowing you to stay less than 10 minutes walking distance from the Check-In zone.
