Safety Qualifications:
All Safety Freedivers are certified to the level of AIDA Competition Safety Freediver. Within the Safety Team, 2 members are AIDA Instructors and the remainder are a mix of 3 Star and 4 Star Freedivers. All Safety Freedivers train together with Bristol Freedivers and regularly complete practice rescue sessions and refreshers. The team have 1st Aid qualifications ranging from EFR and EFRI to Intermediate Life Support. All have received a 1st Aid refresher prior to the competition from a qualified 1st Aid Instructor. All Safety Freedivers have experience of Pool Competitions either as Safety Freedivers or competitors.
Safety plan:
A fully qualified Paramedic will be present throughout the competition with full kit, equipment and emergency response vehicle. The Paramedic will be supported by an assistant fully trained in first aid, O2 administration and AED. In an emergency, Southmead Hospital Emergency Department is 500m away and the Bristol Royal Infirmary is 2.8 miles away. Prior to this competition a practice event will be organised to enable the Safety team to gain further experience working with members of the judge team.
