In-water safety
Safety Coordinator Colene Bentley will serve as point of contact between judges/organizers and safety team
One safety team member will be present in the warm-up zone.
Three safety divers will be present in the performance zone.
Out-of-water safety
The Chief Medical Officer on site will be dedicated solely to the supervision of athletes as a member of the competition safety team (see Appendix A).
In the event of a major emergency (unconscious competitor not responding to recovery efforts of CMO), the athlete will be transferred to the nearest hospital via ambulance.
The competition area will be set up with a floating platform. Attached to the south side of the platform will be the warm-up buoy with 30m line (the warm-up zone). Attached to the east (shore) side of the platform will be a 5mx5m floating PVC frame delineating the performance zone. The counter ballast rig will be mounted over top of the platform, with the dive (competition) side facing the shore. The centre front of the platform will remain clear at all times in case an athlete needs to be removed from the water by the safety divers (the transition zone). The rear of the platform will remain clear for boat docking. A zodiac will be available throughout the competition for athlete evacuate emergencies.
